Located in the County Seat of Elyria, Ohio, the Transportation & Community Center is accessible to many regional communities. Major highways, such as I-80/90 and I-480, connect easily to several adjacent cities including Lorain, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, Avon, Avon Lake, Vermilion, Westlake, Oberlin, Ashland, Bay Village, Wellington, Strongsville and Sandusky.
Additionally, bus service is available from the Lorain County Transit for those traveling shorter distances, around Lorain and Elyria. Lorain County Transit's Route 51 is currently stopping at Center, along with Greyhound. Other highways and interstates connect Elyria to larger, bustling downtown areas like Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown.
Alternative transportation options are available for guests that are traveling from farther distances. Guests that wish to travel by plane may choose to utilize either the Lorain County Regional Airport, the Akron-Canton Airport, or the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to accommodate their travel needs. Travel by ferry service is also available through the Jet-Express, docked at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio, which travels to-and-from Put-in-Bay, Kelley's Island, Pelee Island, and different spots in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio.
The Lorain County Transportation & Community Center offers flexible rooms with different layouts to accommodate a variety of gatherings. Types of events would include weddings, showers, baby showers, memorial services, graduation parties, proms, anniversary parties, banquets, holiday parties, company dinne
rs, class reunions, business meetings, civic functions, seminars, trade shows, fundraisers, etc.
The spaces are flexible and can be arranged and combined for events. For example, if "The 20th Century", & "The Limited", are combined, tables can be set for dinner in "The 20th Century" (the larger room), while guests enjoy appetizers and cocktails in "The Limited". After dinner, guests can also enjoy coffee, tea, cake and dessert in "The 20th Century", while the "The Limited" is converted into a dance floor. The facility's dimmable lighting can also be utilized on such an occasion. The facility's skylights and tall windows can utilize sunlight to create breath-taking indoor photography for special occasions.
The facilities is equipped with features to accommodate Event Catering provided exclusively by Lorain County Community College (LCCC), in conjunction with LCCC Dining Services. One of these features is a fully-functional kitchen that includes cabinetry and sink with running water. Another feature is the beverage station which has a counter and can be used as a bar. This area is also equipped with an LCD flatscreen monitor to keep the bartender and guests entertained while beverages are being served.
